Dear ISA Families,

It was great to see many of you at last Thursday’s Pasta and a Play and Report Card Pick-Up Night.  By the time the curtain came down in the theatre, we had connected with each other over a great meal, generously bid on items in the silent auction, read class newsletters from ISA teachers, picked up report cards and enjoyed opening night of The Wizard of Oz. The event was successful largely because of the tremendous efforts of the ISA Amigos who began preparing for the evening several months ago.  What began seven years ago has now become an important ISA tradition!

Although the second semester just began a few weeks ago, we are already preparing for the 2013-2014 school year.  Last week, ISA recruiting teams visited seven NEISD middle schools and they will visit the remaining six schools this week.  We will host the final three shadowing dates tomorrow January 22, Thursday, January 24, and Tuesday, January 29.  Interested families may still sign up to visit by completing the ISA Shadowing Form.  Our final recruiting event will be an information night on Thursday, January 31, at 6 p.m. in the Lee Campus Library before the February 6, 2013, Freshman Application deadline.

This upcoming Saturday, January 26, ISA sophomore and junior students will have another opportunity to take the THEA dual credit qualifying exam. This is also an opportunity for students to test for the first time or re-test if they did not earn qualifying scores the first time they tested. To register, students can bring $29 cash or check made out to ISA to the ISA Counseling Office by Wednesday. All registered test-takers need to be at ISA at 7:45 Saturday morning and should plan on testing until 1:30. As a reminder, in addition to qualifying test scores, students must complete the dual credit application and return pages 14-16 of the dual credit handbook by February 15. The dual credit handbook can be picked up in the Counseling Office or accessed on the ISA Counseling website.

The Freshman Team wants to remind families that they will host a Saturday School on January 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. All freshmen are invited to attend.

Finally, if you were not able to join us today at the Martin Luther King, Jr. March, you can see the ISA group HERE. Thank you to Mitzi Moore and the Interact student leaders who organize our participation each year.

Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,

Kathy Bieser
